Burning Ban in Effect

FIRE DANGER IS HIGH! Wildfires are likely and difficult to control. Increased temperatures continue to dry vegetation and several structures were recently lost. Fire Chief Hunt has declared an emergency temporary ban on burning beginning May 9, 2020 until further notice.

The Arizona Strip Field Office is also implementing fire restrictions from May 12, 2020 midnight until rescinded. Pursuant to 43 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 9212.2, the following acts are prohibited on all lands administered by the Bureau of Land Management in Mojave county:

1. Building, maintaining, attending, or using a fire, campfire, charcoal, coal, or wood stove.
2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building.
3. Discharging a firearm, air rifle, exploding targets or gas gun except while engaged in a lawful hunt pursuant to state, federal or tribal laws and regulations.
4. Mechanical and Industrial Prohibitions
a. Operating any internal combustion engine
b. Welding, or operating acetylene or other torch with open flame
c. Using an explosive.
Exploding targets, fireworks, and paper/sky lanterns are always prohibited year-round on BLM-managed pubic lands in Arizona.
